Southwest Virginia in June

Southwest Virginia is gorgeous in June: the back country roads are lush green tunnels, with bright blue skylights. The air is thick with honeysuckle nectar and the scent of new-mown hay in those places where the cattle and horses are not wading through knee-deep grass on hillside pastures. The streams are full of water and trout and the night air is crisp and still cool. Folks are out having picnics in the afternoons, floating down the New River and having occasional bonfires & roasts on the mountainsides.
